What items you need in your transitional wardrobe pre- autumn
With the summer sales almost over (HOORAY!) and Autumn just around the corner, it can be difficult to put together a wardrobe of items you can mix and match, including pieces you can wear when the weather is hot and cold (as we never know what to expect from this British weather).
We see many clients at this time of year for just that, so we understand the struggles, which is why we have put together a small edit of clothes and accessories that will leave you looking super stylish and won't break the bank!
Like with every capsule wardrobe, it is important to have some key investment items in your transitional wardrobe that you can wear all year long, so that you're not loosing money; we suggest starting with a good pair of well fitting jeans that really compliment your shape, whether it may be skinny jeans, slim cut, straight leg, bootcut or flare, there are many options out there in the stores that will cater to your individual budget. For our edit, we have chosen a blue denim, wide leg by New Look. This is a great fashion forward style of jean that is very trendy and can be worn all autumn/ winter.
Another staple you need at this time of year is a lightweight jacket or coat that you can throw on when the weather gets a little cooler, which often makes an outfit stand out. Keeping to a colour scheme of two- tree colours that suit you often helps when putting together a capsule wardrobe as you can get more wear out of your items. Mustard is a key colour for this time of year as well as throughout the winter season, which is why we have chosen this stunning biker style jacket, again from New Look.
Another great piece to have is a denim jacket, which works perfectly with almost every piece of clothing you might have, from dresses to jumpsuits and jeans, the list is endless. You can find a denim jacket in almost every store, however Topshop have a huge selection of different styles and colours that will work for most body shapes and age groups. Below is one of our favourites from the edit.
So now you have your jacket and jeans, you need a few tops or t-shirts to wear on a day to day basis; H&M offer great basics all year round in a selection of colours, prints and styles, both long and short sleeved, however for this edit we suggest sticking to either black or white.
Now that you have your basics, you can start to inject other items into your transitional wardrobe such as dresses, jumpsuits, co-ords etc. As you can see from our edit above we have chosen a striped trouser co-ord from New Look and the ever so trendy slip dress, that has been extremely popular this season.
It's great to also have a selection of smart and casual shoes you can mix and match, especially for this time of year as you may need open and closed toe shoes, depending on the weather. We have chosen a pair of white trainers, to dress your outfit down, slides, printed sandals and wedges to smarten up your look.
You can accessorise your outfits by adding earrings, necklaces, bracelets, rings etc in similar or complimentary colour ways which are unique to each individual.
